How to write a grant proposal for Horizon Europe

Aim

The course will offer key tips and strategies to write a successful grant application in Horizon Europe. The learning outcomes will also be useful to write successful proposals for other funding agencies.

Junior PIs, senior postdocs who want to apply for independent grants, and management staff dedicated to support scientists in grant writing.

Contents

The course will offer the tools to identify the right funding opportunities, understand the call text and plan and write high-impact research proposals in Horizon Europe that tell a powerful story. 

Participants will learn:

• Funding opportunities for junior researchers in Horizon Europe, with a focus on the European Research Council and collaborative projects
• The review process of a grant
• Tips and tricks to write the different sections of a grant proposal: abstract, objectives, methodology, research data management plans, etc. 
• Science policy aspect mandatory in proposal writing
• Plan and prepare a budget

During the course participants will have the opportunity to write a short proposal and receive feedback from trainers and a senior PRBB PIs.

Please note the course consists of several sessions, and you should be able to attend all of them.

Study commitment

In preparation for the workshop participants have to submit a title and an abstract of their potential proposal for a grant (max. 250 words) to intervals@prbb.org. Abstracts should be submitted by the 30th November at the latest. 

During the third and fourth session participants should prepare a short proposal to present in the last session. This proposal should be submitted by the 14th February (a template will be provided to prepare the short proposal).
