Dr. Malte Engel studied philosophy, psychology, and English literature in Germany and England. In 2010 he finished his PhD at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain. His thesis is entitled "Cognitive Capacities as a Basis of Moral Responsibility". In 2013 he founded the Institute of Argumentation Competence. Together with a team of trainers he teaches courses for PhD students and postdocs on critical reasoning, logic, and related topics such as thesis defense training and scientific writing. His courses are offered in more than 50 universities and research institutions in Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
