New researchers have to make the leap from consuming scientific knowledge to producing it. But having good ideas and good results isn’t enough. In order to successfully place their articles in international journals, scientists also need to learn the craft of writing research articles.

In this course participants will:

  • Become familiar with the structure and elements of an IMRaD paper
  • Acquire planning strategies for writing an article effectively and efficiently
  • Develop awareness of common mistakes in research articles
  • Apply techniques to make writing clear, concise and cohesive in sentences and paragraphs
  • Acquire techniques for time management
  • Learn about ethical publication
  • Learn what to expect from the journal review process

The course consists of several sessions. You should be able to attend all of them.

Study commitment

There will be short assignments to do at home after each session.

For any issue regarding attendance before or during the course, please note that you should contact the Intervals team directly by sending an email to intervals@prbb.org.

NOTE: Conditions for participating in online courses

Intervals courses are small, interactive group sessions in which confidential issues are often raised. During the Zoom sessions you must have your camera on, and a microphone ready to participate in the group activities. You should be in a quiet place with a good internet connection. If you are not alone in the room you must wear headphones. If you are unable to meet these conditions you will be asked to leave the course.
