Theme B: Communication
Under this important theme we aim to provide a range of training opportunities covering three main areas of science communication:
- · Scientific Writing
- · Oral Presentations
- · Engaging with the Public
The first two of these themes focus on all aspects of conventional communication of science within the scientific community. Our writing courses cover a spectrum of needs from a basic course introducing the IMRAD structure of publications through to advanced courses on good writing style and grant proposal writing. For oral presentations skill development, we offer complementary courses, one course covering all elements of planning, organising and creating an effective scientific presentation and a course specialising in performance skills.
The third theme, public engagement, is no less important and we run a variety of more creative options for scientists to explore, including film-making, talking to the media and the public about science and making podcasts to present scientific topics.
