Writing workshop: revising and editing papers before submission

Aim:The aim of this course is to create a supportive setting where participants analyze and enrich their writing through feedback from peers and the workshop leader.
Provider: Carolyn Newey
For:PRBB residents who are advanced but non-native English speakers
Language:English
Contents:

This practical writing workshop will give participants an opportunity to put into practice the theory covered in the course Write it clearly: fundamentals of good scientific writing. Participants should ideally have a writing project in mind that they wish to work on, such as a draft paper, grant proposal or similar. In all cases you should be prepared to bring samples of your written work to class.

Participants will complete short written assignments in class and at home. They will engage in peer-reviewing others’ work and provide feedback. The trainer will address specific, theoretical issues as they arise.

In accepting registrations, priority will be given to those who have attended the Write it clearly course but scientists who already know the principles of clear writing are welcome to register too and will be considered on a case by case basis – please state your experience of writing published papers and/or attendance at other writing courses.

Study commitment:

When registering, you should be aware that to get full benefit from this course you will need to complete some writing assignments between sessions.
Participants need to commit to attending ALL SIX, of the two hour sessions.
